THE FESTIVE HOLIDAY period is a good time to visit Father Christmas in his own magical kingdom of Lapland. Just after Christmas, things are quieter in Lapland and it is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy some quality family time together, soaking up the atmosphere of Europe's last unspoiled wilderness as you set out into the magnificent snowscapes for a range of snow activities. And, what's more, Santa has not set off on his well-deserved holidays yet and he will be happy to chat with you now that all his hard work is over. Perhaps your children can thank him for their presents?
Visiting Santa between Christmas and New Year is just part of your short break. There is so much more included. From a Festive Dinner to a Search for Santa, from a Snowmobile Adventure to a Husky Experience, your three-night break is filled with wonderful, magical experiences. Here is a typical itinerary.

4 Day Itinerary
Day One
Your flight departs around 10am and at Enontekio you are guided to your coach. The journey to Hetta takes around 15 minutes (or one hour to Karesuando). Watch out for Santa's reindeer in the woods. Your all-in-one thermal suits and boots collection will be organised by your representative. After checking in at your chosen accommodation, your Transun rep hosts a welcome meeting and will answer any further questions during dinner. Tonight, you can join one of our optional activities, such as a snowmobile night safari, hoping to encounter the Northern Lights. See 'Optional Excursions' for full details.
Day Two
After breakfast, you head out on your first safari - a thrilling 40-minute Husky Experience. Throughout the day you can enjoy snow activities outside, with toboggans. Or there's plenty of family fun to be had making snowmen or enjoying a good old-fashioned snowball fight! Alternatively, you might opt to join the inside craft activities, or maybe try one of our exciting optional excursions, such as trying your hand at Reindeer Herding. Tonight you might join another of our optional night safaris.
Day Three
After breakfast, you will be joining your second included Safari - the 40-minute Snowmobile Adventure. A supervised kids' snowmobile ride will be available (see FAQs for details) or, if you're lucky, a chance to get up close to a friendly reindeer. Then, the highlight of the day when you board a reindeer sleigh and set off In Search of Father Christmas. During a private family meeting in his cabin, each child has the chance to talk with Santa now that he is back from his annual journey around the world. Each child receives a small gift. After a special Festive Dinner, relax, or join one of our optional night safaris.
Day Four
Check out after breakfast at 0900hrs. There should be time for one final play in the snow or to join one of our optional excursions. After a hot lunch, you depart for Enontekio and your flight home.

As well as your included activities, there's a whole programme of optional excursions for you to choose from. These are available for you to add when you book - whether online or over the phone.
Puppy Encounter
Strictly limited numbers are available for this exciting chance to befriend the husky puppies. You are transferred to the husky camp, where you meet the new puppies and hear stories from real mushers.

Reindeer Herding
You will visit a reindeer gathering place where you learn about herding and even how to lasso a reindeer. Then venture into the Arctic wilderness on a short safari, drawn through the snow by a reindeer while sitting in a sleigh.

Northern Lights Snowmobile Safari
An evening excursion when, with the night sky overhead, you head out through the wilderness to a vantage point in search of the Northern Lights. Based on two adults sharing a snowmobile.**

Ice Fishing by Snowmobile
This is a great trip for all the family. You travel by snowmobile to a nearby popular fishing site where you can try your hand at traditional ice fishing – you just drill a hole in the ice and lower your baited hook into the icy waters below.*

Northern Lights Husky Safari
Take a night safari on a sledge mushing your own team of dogs to a nearby vantage point where, if you are lucky, you may see the Northern Lights evolving in the sky above (a stunning phenomenon which cannot be guaranteed).**

A Night In An Igloo
An extraordinary experience! Inside, the igloo is surprisingly warm and cosy. There is a real bed for a comfortable night's sleep, with a snow surround and covered with reindeer hides.

Further Information
All excursions include expert guides, equipment and all necessary instruction. On our Northern Lights night safaris, we search for the best viewpoints rather than aim to cover a specific distance.
On all safaris, unless a supplement is paid to secure a single rider, you may be required to share with another person from the group. All prices are per person. All distances and durations are approximate and subject to weather conditions and route on the day.
All excursions are subject of minimum numbers and local conditions and are non-refundable. However, you will be automatically refunded the full price paid for your excursion if it doesn’t go ahead due to operational reasons.
*All Snowmobile activities carry a €550 damage deposit which is payable locally. A valid driving license must be shown upon arrival.** The ability to drive and control a husky team on longer safaris is determined by physical attributes. Normally, anybody over the age of 18 should be able to handle a dog team comfortably.

All the dates above are available as of our last update. However the prices and tours are subject to availability and availability cannot be guaranteed for late bookings made between Oct-Dec where availability will be extremely limited with most tours likely to be full. Alternative tours will be offered should this tour be fully booked.
